Dekalb area properties including Sycamore, Cortland, Malta, Genoa, Lee and the surrounding areas are hot! They go very quickly. (Really.)
The Dekalb Area Homes, while experiencing significant appreciation, are still a bargin compared to Chicagoland. We are close to I-88 which provides quick access back to Chicagoland.
The Dekalb Area Schools are generally well regarded. Talk to most parents and I think you will see most are pleased. There is a lot of community spirit for the local sport teams. The Dekalb vs Sycamore football game is always a hoot. Northern Illinois University and Kishwaukee provide opportunities for the children and community.
The Dekalb Area Parks are generally well rated. Hopkins park has a beautiful band shell that play free musice from the orchestra on Wednesdays during teh summer. The pool is always popular. OF course, Sycamore and the other towns have strong parks.
Dekalb shopping is good. Many large retailers have moved in on route 23. This is the main road connectind Dekalb and Sycamore. You will find plenty of ways to spend your money.
Traffice from your Dekalb Home to school, church or shopping is normally a breeze. Has anybody gone down Route 59 in Naperville at the wrong time of day? You won't pull your hair out going five miles in Dekalb.
Whether you are coming from your Dekalb Home, Sycamore Condo, or Malta Apartment you will find a variety of strong churches.
The Kishwaukee YMCA serves the area and is between Sycamore and Dekalb. It has a new fitness center, two pools, R-ball courts, and a ton of programs. I have three children. The YMCA provides a great service of watching you kids while you workout for free! (Family membership.) My kids love to go to the YMCA.
Sycamore is the County Seat and has a historic Court House. (It is really old and neat.) My expereinces with the court house have always been professional and polite.
I being a Moose member would be remiss in not mentioning that there are many active chapters of the Moose, Elk and Free Mason in the Dekalb Area.
